Dear Omega community, dear space enthusiasts.
Three years ago I was at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Naples. I strolled comfortably through the attached exhibition, past the booth of the European Space Agency ESA. I had just digested the first Margherita pizza of the day when I see Thomas Reiter, astronaut and then ESA director for manned space travel, sitting on a stool. Oh, Thomas Reiter, I think, and wanted to go on. I have now met loads of astronauts, they are not that rare. Then I noticed that an elderly man was sitting next to him, with whom he was talking. The gentleman was also once an astronaut, and one of the pioneers of space travel!
I paused for a moment, but then went on because I hate to stand around as a gawker.: magnifying glass:
According to the program, Buzz was supposed to take part in a panel discussion during the convention, exactly two hours before it was my turn to speak. Sure, I had to be there. When do you meet a moon traveler, especially from Apollo 11?
The panel discussion took place in a very small, separated area with perhaps 50 seats, about as many listeners had to stand or crowd in front of the entrance. I was lucky and got a good seat in the middle. This resulted in the following pictures, which I always wanted to upload here. Today I had to spontaneously take a day off because the roofer is working at home, and I just take advantage of the hour!
In the next picture, Buzz is sitting in the audience, you can see his watch. For the Omega specs
The quality of the pictures is unfortunately not that great, and I have already selected the best. At that time I still had a Canon Ixus 75. It took lousy photos in poor lighting conditions. The flash was also completely useless for subjects more than two meters. But in that case it is the motive that counts. And the experience of meeting an impressive person who is sure to have his place in the history books.
Who still knows today who was emperor, king, favorite musician or fool at the European courts towards the end of the 15th century. At some point only historians remember politicians and superstars. But every child knows Christopher Columbus. Omegle Cps counter
I can't remember the title of the discussion. Neil Armstrong died shortly before, that was an issue. There were two astronauts, one Russian, one American, and two European astronauts. It was more of a chatty from the sewing box!
Really need to know topic.
